Cacharel
It all began in 1958 when Jean Bousquet, originally from Nîmes and fresh out of technical college with a tailoring qualification, decided to travel up to Paris. After working as a stylist for two years, he moved into a 6th floor apartment in a haussmann designed building – rue Saintonge in the 3rd arrondissement and started a small-scale tailoring business designing women’s trousers. His success prompted him to found a small company, which he called “Cacharel” after the name of a bird in the Camargue.
Then things really started to happen quickly, the incredible boom created by the seersucker blouse, as shown on the cover of “ELLE” magazine, followed by Liberty shirts and dresses introduced the name of Cacharel into every display window in the world.
